How to create a new Student Fee Category and allocate classes to it?

> Fee > Student Fee Category

Student fee Categories are created for the convenience of defining various fee structures for students. Every student should mandatorily fall under a category so as to define the fee structure for them. Once the Student Fee Categories are created and mapped to classes, students must be separately allocated the categories. A student can be assigned only one Student Fee Category. For example, as per the Right to Education Act that came into force on 1st April 2010, schools create RTE categories for the ease of defining fees through a different fee structure.

By default, you land on the CREATE CATEGORIES page. If any Student Fee Category is already created, the number of students allocated to each category is displayed at the bottom of each Student Fee Category card.

  1. Click   at the top right corner of the page to add a new Student Fee Category.
  2. Fill in the details.
    1. Enter the Category Name.
    2. Enter a 2-character code, for distinguishing the category from other categories, preferably an abbreviation or contraction of the name of the category you have entered.
    3. Select a colour by which you wish to distinguish the category from other categories.
  3. Select the classes you wish to add to the New Fee Category.
  4. Click SAVE.

    NOTE:

    • A class can have multiple Student Fee Categories, and a category can be mapped to multiple classes.
    • All the categories created for a particular class will be available while doing student allocation under the Allocate Student tab.
    • To edit/delete a student fee category created, click the more actions button at the top right corner of the student fee category card and select edit/delete option.
    • While editing an already existing category, you cannot undo the mapping of the classes, if at least one student belonging to that class is allocated to the category.
    • To delete the existing categories, the user has to undo the student allocation for the category.
    • Any fee category for which fees are collected cannot be deleted.
