The Chat tab shows how Chat is being used across your institution.
- Open the Communication Dashboard.
- Click the Chat tab.
- Pick a period from the Range dropdown at the top right.
Use Refresh to reload the data, or Chat page to go to Chat itself.

What each card shows
Chat Growth — the total number of chats created over time, split into one-to-one chats, groups, and Smart Groups. The figure on the right is the total created, with the number added during the selected period.
Active Chats — chats that had activity during the period, by the same three types, with a comparison against the previous period.
Chat Types — a breakdown of all chats into one-to-one chats, Smart Groups, and groups, each with a count and how many were active in the period.
1-1 Chats by Type — one-to-one chats split into Staff → Staff and Staff → Parent.
Smart Groups by Type — auto-generated groups split by rule, such as Class Teacher → Parent and Subject Teacher → Parent, each with a count and how many were active.
